About Harpsody The Los Angeles-based Harpsody duo (Tomoko Sato and Kaffee Tee Mimun) has been performing since 2003. In addition to exploring a wide and intriguing range of harp repertoire (from Baroque to Modern), they have also arranged a variety of other pieces for harp duo.Tomoko Sato, DMA (right) began her music lessons at age six in her native Japan. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano and Harp Performance from Chapman University. Upon graduating, she continued her studies at the Manhattan School of Music, graduating with a Masters degree in Orchestral Performance. From the University of Southern California she received a Doctoral Degree for Musical Arts in Harp Performance, with minors in Music History, Piano Performance and Music Education. She studied with such distinguished teachers as JoAnn Turovsky, Sarah Bullen, and Mindy Ball. A winner of the Anne Adams Award and a recipient of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Excellence in Diversity Scholarship, in addition to maintaining a regular teaching schedule, Ms. Sato gives regular recitals in the Los Angeles area, plays with the orchestras of local musical productions, and has appeared in films and on TV series. She has performed with the Honolulu Symphony, the Pacific Symphony, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and the Manhattan Virtuoso. Her work can also be heard on film sound tracks. She is a member of American Harp Society, Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, and Music Teachers Association of California. Kaffee Tee Mimun (left) was born in Malaysia. She began piano lessons at the age of six, and harp eight years later. After winning a concerto competition at 22, Ms. Mimun performed as a soloist with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in honor of the King of Malaysia’s birthday. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Oklahoma City University in 1998, and moved to Los Angeles in 1999 to continue her harp studies at the University of Southern California with JoAnn Turovsky. By 2001, Ms. Mimun had earned both a Performance Certificate and a Master Degree in Harp Performance from USC; she is currently completing work on her Doctorate Degree. She was awarded a music merit scholarship by the Thornton School of Music in 1999. Kaffee performs regularly with various Southern California orchestras and early music ensembles, gives recitals, teaches, arranges, and writes music for the harp.
